We live on a space ship which does not have
any life rafts. We have learned that we need to take care of it so it will
take care of us. It was here before us and it will be after long after
us. People that lived before us felt that they were children of the
Earth. We are the caretakers of Earth. Mankind must not upset the
delicate balance of our environment. Already thru mankind's
carelessness thousands of species have become extinct. Scientists
have found evidence for several major extinctions of life. If Mankind does
not practice proper stewardship of Earth the environment will
change so drastically that we will also become extinct.
Nuclear Winter
Carl Sagen and others did research that
showed that even a limited nuclear war would trigger dust clouds that would
cause nuclear winter which would last hundreds of years and cause major
extinction of life on this planet.
